Reading  

Your child has a Reading Record book, in which you can record the books your child is reading, as well as writing comments to celebrate their reading achievements.  Please make sure this diary comes into school every day with your child so it is available should we be reading with them individually.  

Please read with your child for a short time, five times each week and sign the date in the reading diary, the Reading Records will be checked every week. 

Reading Prizes - If your child has read 5 times in the last week, they will receive a raffle which will be entered into a draw to win a new book at the end of the term.  If your child has completed all of the reading challenges, they will receive 5 raffles to be entered into the draw.  

Spellings  

Spellings tests will be given every Friday and new spellings will be stuck into their home learning books on a Monday. There will also be weekly spelling sessions in class to learn new spelling patterns and rules, please click here for an overview of the weekly spellings for the Summer term for Years 3 and click here for Year 4.  Please make sure your child's homework books come into school with them everyday, we often use the homework books to practice spellings during morning activity and guided reading sessions.

Home Learning

During the summer term, we will not be sending out a home learning grid as we usually so.  For the next two terms, it would be great if you could spend some time supporting your child with their times table practice at home.  

PE is on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  These sessions will be outside as long as the weather allows so please make sure your child comes to school in an outdoor PE kit (including trainers and jogging bottoms to save knees from grazes on the playground).  Our Thursday sessions are run by Lynne Giles, for Spring Term 2 the children will be learning to play tennis.
