Phonics and Reading

We will do daily phonics sessions following Letters and Sounds Synthetic Phonics Programme. As we build our knowledge of phonemes and develop our skills of segmenting and blending for reading, we will use these to help us with our spelling.

Please click on this link for this years Phonics Workshop, to help you with supporting your child's early reading at home.

Please turn your sound on to hear the accompanying notes.

In order for your child build a love of reading, as well as the skills for reading, we ask that you support your child by hearing them read at least 5 times a week. Whilst taking home sharing books, enjoy reading these stories in the same way and talking about the story, characters and making predictions. Please make sure that you sign and date your child's reading record when this has taken place so that we can see what is being read and how frequently. If you need support with this then please ask.

We will hear your child read individually every week, so please make sure their book and record are brought into school daily and put into their tray.
