It has been another busy year fund raising for our lovely school!

We started the academic year back in September 2015 by inviting the circus to town and this was closely followed by the Christmas Fair with a guest appearance from Santa!

We have held a film night, 2 disco nights and have provided treats for the whole school trip to the pantomime in December and also at the children's Christmas lunch. To end the term each child was presented with a reading book from FOSM's.

We have been privileged enough to be part of The Bluebell Cafe again this year. Thank you to all the ladies who baked and helped to run the cafe on our allocated weekend, we received a cheque to the amount of £870 which is by far the highest donation since we started this fund raising event! Mrs Wright has asked if we can use this money to purchase new colourful picnic tables for the front and back play areas, so we have been busy organising this.

Another project undertaken by FOSM's this year was to pay for swing bars to be installed in both the front playground and the field for use by all children in the school - they appear to be very well used already! We have also gifted each classroom £250 to further enhance the children's educational experience and have updated the children's wet play equipment.

FOSM’s also organised this year’s fantastic swimming team for the annual Portishead Swimathon, which saw the team raise a record £639 in total, £400 of which was donated back to the school.

We finished the academic year by holding or annual summer fair. This year we had a carnival theme and held a craft afternoon at school where the children used their artistic skills making masks for the carnival parade! We also welcomed the children to the arena this year to show off their singing and dancing skills.

We are currently busy planning and organising for this year's film night, closely followed a few weeks later by the annual Christmas Fair, this year to be held on Friday 2nd December.

We would like to say a BIG thank you to all our loyal volunteers, we really do appreciate all the offers of help at our events. Without you, we just couldn't run these events.

Finally, we are only a small committee and are always looking for new volunteers to join our friendly team. We normally try to meet once a term and in a very informal setting. If you would be keen to join us or just have any questions about our past and presents events, either catch one of us in the playground or leave your details with the school office.

Thanks for reading,

Nicola Barclay
